The painting was acquired directly from John Barrett Main by the Henning family in January 1975 and has remained in the family’s private collection for more than fifty years.
The front is signed “JBM ’75.” The reverse bears the artist’s handwritten name, completion date and the title “Yellow Cross with Brown Field.”
