Ownership History & Artist Documentation
Documented Provenance
Commissioned directly from Las Vegas artist John Barrett Main in January 1975, this original painting has remained in the Henning family’s private collection for more than fifty years. Photographs of the reverse preserve the artist’s handwritten identifying information, date and original description of the work.
Direct From the Artist
A Continuous Family History Since 1975
The Henning family commissioned this painting directly from John Barrett Main at the same time as its companion work, Yellow Cross with Brown Field. It was not acquired through an auction, resale marketplace or unknown third party.
The painting has remained in the same family collection since its acquisition, creating a clear ownership history extending from the artist to the present owner.
Evidence on the Artwork
Original Reverse Inscription
The reverse of the canvas bears the artist’s handwritten name, the date “1-75” and the descriptive wording “Earth Colors w/ Small Yellow Triangle.”
These markings provide important identifying evidence connecting the painting to John Barrett Main and documenting when the work was created.
The inscription is shown as it presently appears on the reverse of the canvas. Interested buyers may request additional high-resolution photographs and supporting research.
